Annies Sponsorship Policy
Sponsorship Objectives
Annies sponsors and supports selected events, programmes and causes that help to:
• Raise the profile of Annies with target audiences
• Grow Annies reputation for producing ‘food you trust’
• Create an environment where target audiences can sample Annies products, and take some action as a result, such as
o Go into a supermarket and find Annies
o Sign up into Annies database
o Tell someone about Annies
• Give something back to the community the company draws from, preferably in relation to Annies target audiences.
Annies target audiences
1. Mum’s concerned with giving their school kids healthy food
2. Body-conscious individuals (men and women) who care about what they eat – performance athletes, dieters, fitness enthusiasts etc.
3. People with health problems who need to avoid certain food such as Gluten, dairy, nuts, etc
4. Youth
Guidelines for Annies Sponsorships
1. Annies generally supports organised events and programmes, not individuals or teams (unless it’s Annies own team).
2. To consider any sponsorship proposal, there must be clearly defined benefits to Annies, that related to the sponsorship objectives set out above, and quantified as far as possible.
Once the above two criteria are met, in general, we favour sponsorships that:
• fit with Annies ethos around health and wellbeing
• offer very good brand exposure
• are based on in-kind support through providing sample product rather than cash. A consumer ‘call to action’ should also be attached to any giveaways.
• provide geographic balance – Annies invests roughly in proportion to our geographic markets. National coverage is desirable.
• provide industry exclusive sponsorships (i.e. there are no other fruit/snack bar brands involved)
• offer naming rights
Requests for Free Samples, Giveways and Fundraisers
Annies gives away a huge number of free samples which is mainly arranged via pre-planned events, food shows and campaigns.
This leaves almost no spare product for ad-hoc requests for free giveaways for school galas and the like, unless the event/cause can show a clear benefit to Annies, per the objectives set out above.
The best way Annies can help smaller organisations is through our fundraising programme …
Annies Fundraising Programme
Annies has an established fundraising programme, designed to suit any school, club or fundraising group. Your organisation gets 30% of the proceeds.
Annies offers a healthy (but still yummy) alternative to high sugar sweets, biscuits and cookies, and Annies is easy to sell.
Fundraising order forms are supplied by Annies, with our best selling products listed. You distribute these with a letter explaining this is a fundraiser to the families/people involved, and collect them up at the end, with payment.
Complimentary product
Occasionally Annies may provide product for special events and/or fundraising activities, if the following criteria are met:
1. Official events/programmes/groups only. Not for individuals or teams.
2. At least two months notice is given
3. There is a written request, on the official letterhead of the organisation/school, and the request is signed by the committee chairperson, or a senior staff member (e.g. school principal)
4. If the request is seeking free product to support fundraising, then the organisation must also have used the Annies Fundraising programme
5. The audience profile matches one or more of our four target audiences
All requests for complimentary product should cover the following:
• Clear description of the event/activity
• Description of how Annies has been involved in the past (if at all).
• A description of the event’s audience – i.e. describe who will be at the event (e.g. families, kids under 10yr, people with Coeliac disease)
• A description of how the free samples are to be used (e.g. prizes for a raffle)
• The quantity needed, and the date they are needed by
• How is the event being promoted
• What (if any) promotional recognition is being offered to Annies
• Full contact details for the person coordinating the samples, as well as those for the organisation’s chairperson or senior manager.
